U is for U

The letter for today my little lovelies is U.  Using the letters of the alphabet as a starting point, bloggers are challenged to write a post everyday except Sunday. It's a good way to meet new authors and bloggers, learn about interesting books and topics and gain readership. If you stalk me (follow) I will stalk you!

My posts are loosely based on emotions/mental drama and anguish while introducing you to some books bearing the same or closely related titles/themes.

U is for U

yoU sit there staring at me. I know what you are thinking. What an absolute underachiever you are. A complete and utter waste of time and space. I grow tired of watching you walk down the street underneath an umbrella, even when there is no rain. I have grown weary of the unending song you constantly play on that stupid ukelele. I want to stuff it down your throat!

Ah! You raise your eyebrow. You know that I can sense your thoughts. You ask for understanding and yet you give none. Your ubiquitous presence is driving me mad. Your smile has turned evil and wicked as you unabashedly continue to watch me. Are you looking for the beauty that lies deep within me? Are you searching for inspiration in my eyes? Or do you believe my existence is uninspiring, my hidden beauty mere ashes heaped on a pile of ugly nothingness? Why? Why do you continue to stare at me? Do you long to touch my face and kiss my lips and then in disgust throw me to the floor as unwanted rubbish? I do not have any answers only yoU, sitting staring at me.

U on the Bookshelf

Through twenty excursions into the dark side of the human soul, Sue Grafton has never written the same book twice. And so it is with this, her twenty-first. Once again, she breaks genre formulas, giving us a twisting, complex, surprise-filled, and totally satisfying thriller.

The New York Times Book Review called Neal Stephenson's most recent novel "electrifying" and "hilarious." but if you want to know Stephenson was doing twenty years before he wrote the epic Cryptonomicon, it's back-to-school time. Back to The Big U, that is, a hilarious send-up of American college life starring after years our of print, The Big U is required reading for anyone interested in the early work of this singular writer.
