Fighting

The letter for today my little lovelies is F. This is Day 6 of the A to Z Challenge. Using the letters of the alphabet as a starting point, bloggers are challenged to write a post everyday except Sunday. It's a good way to meet new authors and bloggers, learn about interesting books and topics and gain readership. If you stalk me (follow) I will stalk you!

My posts are loosely based on emotions/mental drama and anguish while introducing you to some books bearing the same or closely related titles/themes.

F is for Fighting!

Boy! They are having a major fight. The couple next door. She is throwing things and slamming doors.

Yelling and screaming at the top of her voice.

His voice is barely audible. Now she is pacing across the floor. Click. Clack. Click. Clack. Her shoes quickly tapping the floor in a fast and frenzied beat.

She stops walking and screams at him again. He is trying to calm her, but the more calm he remains the angrier she becomes.

Crash! Something slams against the wall.

He raises his voice, "what is wrong with you?!"

She responds and her voice is the sound of nails scratching the chalkboard!

This is the same couple who are in the throws of passion at 5 a.m. every morning!

They are like rabbits. Um.....hello, I would like to sleep, not listen to you moan, sigh and groan or the sound of your bed skating and sliding across the floor!

Great! Now she's crying and cursing. I wish he would grab her by the hair, forcefully kiss her and throw her to the bed.

At least there would be no more fighting.

Fighting on the Bookshelf

When Caren Williams finds herself back on the estate she fought so hard to get away from, little does she realize she’ll be living opposite her arch-enemy, Gina Bradley. Gina thinks she and her family rule Stanley Avenue so when Caren starts to become popular, she decides to hit her where it will hurt the most – she wants her husband.

Lonely and depressed, Ruth Millington turns to drinking and self-harm to get her through the dark times but finds it’s a constant struggle. Spiraling out of control, maybe she should let Gina’s husband help her out when he comes calling.

FIGHTING FOR SURVIVAL is psychological suspense that will test you to your limits. Brawling in the street, fighting on the square and conforming to peer pressure – it all comes down to holding your nerve. But this time not everyone will stay alive on the notorious Stanley Avenue… Amazon.

When Lisa Niemi first exchanged vows with Patrick Swayze, she promised to be with her husband “till death do us part.” But how many couples stop and think about what that truly means?
Worth Fighting For is both a candid tribute to a marriage and a celebration of the healing power that each day holds, even in the most difficult of circumstances. Lisa shares the details of Patrick’s twenty-one-month battle with Stage IV pancreatic cancer, and she describes his last days, when she simply tried to keep him comfortable. She writes with heartbreaking honesty about her grief in the aftermath of his death and openly discusses the challenges that the years without him have posed. Her story is an emotionally honest and unflinching depiction of loss, but it is also a hopeful and life-affirming exploration of the power of the human spirit. “I tell you, I am a different person now,” she writes, “one who has been thrown into the fire and forged.” Amazon.

What about you?

Is there something in your life that you believe is worth fighting for?

  1. Fighting is a hard one to write well. (For me anyway). Sword fighting is more fun to write than angry fighting though.

    1. Sword fighting, eh! Now that would be an interesting way to settle a marital disagreement. :)

  2. Hi Shirletta, I really enjoyed your blog post about fighting. First, I loved having the Beatles lyrics on the plaque as the song came immediately into my mind and brought back lots of good memories. I looked for both books on my local library website, but only found the one by Patrick Swayze's wife. I have requested it and look forward to reading it.

Is there something in my life that I believe is worth fighting for? Yes. I've been married for 28 years and I think both of us put a pretty high priority on keeping that alive and well. And I also believe in fighting for my children, for their growth and happiness. Finally, I believe in fighting for me. For growth, and health, and happiness.

    1. Hey there Susan,
Thanks for stopping by. Glad you enjoyed the fighting post. They (the posts) have all been a fight for me. :) I hope you enjoy the book. I think the first one may be an indie, but I'm not sure, it is listed on Amazon. :)

congratulations on 28 years of marriage! :)

  3. This is an interesting theme for your A-Z challenge. I like how you use book reviews to correspond to your theme. It's very clever :)

    1. LOL! Thanks. It all accidentally came together. I was sooo clueless and biting nails about the theme, etc until the challenge started. :)
      Glad you stopped by.
