One day, years ago, I was feeling really down about
something. I went to my Mom’s to get
some mother-loving and comfort. I was being rather hard on myself about all the
different emotions that I had been experiencing. Then, my Mother uttered words
that were life-changing: “Baby, if God didn’t want you to feel all these
emotions, He wouldn’t have given them to you.” Wow! What did she just say? Is it my right—my human right to
feel? According to my Mom and God, yes! J
How many times have we suppressed our true response to a
situation? Felt ashamed because here it is another day and I’m still depressed,
confused, or lost? Of course, people around you don’t know, because you’ve
plastered your “go-to” smile to hide your true self. Now, I’m not suggesting
that you walk around telling everyone that you’re depressed or angry or hurt.
I’m saying that when I take the time to truly live with and examine my
emotions, I recognize the root of my issues. And we all know what happens when
you destroy the root, right? You “kill” the life source. It’s no longer being
fed, and it dies.
Begin today to excavate the root of negativity and sever it!
Pledge to yourself to live a fuller life in which you honor every moment! Your
life is made up of moments—some great, some not so great. But, they’re YOUR moments! Weaved together, they
tell your life story!
Thank you, Shirletta for allowing me to share the profound
lesson that I’ve learned: The “valley” moments in our lives serve us just as
much, if not greater, as the “on top of the mountain” seasons of our lives.
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed. (Psalm 139:16)
