The End is Near!

Yes, the end is near (of the month that is). At midnight tomorrow, the first month of 2012 will come to an end. It is hard to believe how quickly the sands of time pass through the hourglass.   The new year always promises (at least in our minds) to be bigger and better than the prior.  Before the old year exits, we begin talking about the many things we would like to do over the course of the coming 12 months.
Some of us have planned trips or to exercise more or to spend more time taking better care of ourselves.  We have made goals. I hope you have put your goals to paper and created a list.  If you did not, I suggest that you do so today. Until you commit your goals to paper, you have intentions that are seeds without soil. For those of you that have a list the end of the month is a perfect time to re-evaluate.

Re-evaluate, Refresh and Re-energize!

Create a list.  This is the starting point.  Make a list. Get creative.  Cut out pictures and place them on a poster board.  Give the board a title.  You may want to call your board a Bucket list, Visions, or Goals.  The name is not as important as creating the list.

Review your list. Cross off the items you've accomplished and add more.  You still have eleven months to go! There are no limits to the numbers of dreams/goals.  The only limit is you and your imagination.

Share with a friend.  A little encouragement goes a long way. He/she may have similar goals and the two of you can help each other along the way.

Plan how you will make the goals a reality. Start by printing a calendar for the remaining months (February through December) and schedule time to make the goals a reality. This will be really helpful for long-term goals.  Check your calendar daily, this will help you stay on track and keep the goals in the forefront of your mind.

Re-evaluate at the end of each month. I will do my re-evaluation tomorrow and am happy there will be some success, but there will also be some room for improvement.  Don't be too hard on yourself.  Keep moving forward.  When you get discouraged just think of the words to a song I sang in 6th grade chorus (that was a long time ago!)  Inch by inch. Day by day. Step by step. All the way.  Piece by piece. Bit by bit. Little by little you're there!
